Supporters Call for Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of Ariana Grande are demanding that a individual who leaped a barricade and touched the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being detained", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account features recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Safety
Several followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another response on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while some requested social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had gathered in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising relationship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
